Coronavirus Scam to Put on Your Radar

We care about your online safety.

Authorities are reporting an increase in fraudulent activity related to the COVID-19 outbreak. One fraud aims to steal victims’ personal information through fake job postings from legitimate companies. Job hunting is stressful enough even without the added possibility of falling for a scam.

Scammers prey on a job seeker’s desperation, so it is important to use caution when responding to job postings.

These are the red flags:

  • Asking potential candidates to pay or transfer funds through any means as a precondition of interviews or employment, or authorize recruiters or agents to do so on our behalf

  • Conducting business in Google Hangouts or other chat tools

  • Asking anyone to purchase company equipment
