Universal design is a concept around how to build a space that’s intuitive, physically easy, adaptable and spacious.
The idea behind applying universal design to your home creates an environment that allows you to move through it safely and more easily.
It doesn’t simply have to be for those with physical limitations.
In fact, when exploring ideas to develop a home using this concept you may find that your home could better suit your needs at any age. Even at your peak physical state.
Home design around this concept could include being mindful about things like bright lighting, mixes of natural and artificial light, door handles, location of specific use rooms- among many other things.
We encourage you to look more into universal design concepts if:
You are moving to a new home (now is a better time than ever!)
You know you are going to stay in your home as long as possible. (Alterations do have associated expenses you’d want to plan.)
You have parents that are living in their homes as they age, and you’d want to make sure their surroundings best support them.
Want to learn more about universal design and if your home (or a loved one’s) will be safe and comfortable at any age?
